Red Fish Curry  with Kukum star
(Chuvanna Meen Curry with (Kodampuli)

Ingredients
 
Fish - 15 Pieces
Chilly powder - 2 1/2 tbsp
Coriander powder(optional) - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - A pinch
Ginger(ground) - 2 tbsp
Garlic pods - 8 nos
Small onions(Kunjulli)(sliced) - 5 nos
Curry leaves - 2 Sprig
Kukum star(Kodampuli) - 5 Pieces
Oil - 3 tbsp
Mustard seeds - ¼ tsp
Fenugreek(Uluva) powder - ½ tsp
Salt - As reqd

Method Of Preperation



1)Grind together chilly powder, coriander, turmeric, garlic and ginger to a paste.

2)Soak the ‘Kudampuli’ in one cup of water for 5 minutes.

3)Heat oil in a pan.

4)Splutter mustard seeds.

5)Fry the cut onions and curry leaves.

6)When they turn brown, add the ground paste and fry for 2 minutes.

7)Add 2 cups of water, salt and soaked Kodampuli together with water.

8)Boil for one minute and add the fish pieces.

9)Allow it to boil again.

10)Add fenugreek powder and cook till gravy thickens. Stir it occasionally.

11)Cook for 10-15 minutes on a low flame keeping the pan covered.
